A 53-year-old villager is busy working in the lily planting base. She said that this year, the price of lilies has set a record high, and lilies will usher in a big harvest.
Since the 1960s, some farmers in Shipai Town have planted lilies. At present, more than half of villagers in the town plant lilies, with a total planting area of 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares). There are 43 professional cooperatives and 24 lily processing enterprises. So lily has become an important source of economic income for farmers in the town.
This year, the price of lilies has risen, and the product is in short supply. This year, there are more than 300 households in the town with a lily output value of over 500,000 yuan, and more than 150 households with a value exceeding 1 million yuan.
At the product exhibition area of in Shipai Town Industrial Park, a series of lily products such as dried lily slices, lily health tea and lily noodles are showcased.
“Shipai Lily can be used as both medicine and food. It has the effects of moistening the lungs, relieving cough, and refreshing and calming the mind. We are now exploring more benefits from it,” said Tian Peng, Party secretary of the town.
“Our villager’s collective economic income is about to exceed 500,000 yuan this year, and the shiitake base is gradually becoming the best choice for more villagers to work nearby.” the village branch secretary Xiang Yao proudly introduced at the greenhouse of the shiitake base.
Taoxing Village Shiitake Base is located in the muddy mountain of the village, with an average altitude of about 1,300 meters. The sufficient sunlight, large temperature difference between day and night and special climatic conditions make it suitable for the growth of shiitake.
After two years of development, there are now 150 greenhouses in the mushroom production base, with a production value of 5.2 million yuan this year. This will contribute 500,000 yuan to the village collective economy, making it a pillar industry in Shipan Town.
Technology plays an important role in expanding the industrial scale. In October, the shiitake mushroom base added three high-temperature sterilization cabinets, greatly improving the production efficiency of mushroom sticks.
This year, the cooperative plans to plant 700,000 mushroom sticks and sell 500,000 sticks. The mushroom cultivation brings rich profits to farmers.
To meet the labor needs of the mushroom harvest and processing season, villagers from poverty-stricken and low-income households are arranged to work at the base, with a daily income of 100 to 200 yuan. There are a fixed number of 30 villagers working at the base all year round.

The cured meat of “Yi Hao Kang” in Guiying Village, Shipai Town is produced in strict accordance with the food safety standards and hygiene standards with the traditional production methods of Xiangxi smoked bacon.
It mainly produces preserved meat, preserved beef, sausages, etc. By building vacuum packaging production lines and freezing production lines, the on-site transformation and value adding of characteristic products will be achieved.
It has built online and offline sales platforms, launched live-streaming e-commerce on Douyin, WeChat mini program and other platforms. Featured packaging, delicious taste, and extensive publicity make the “Yi Hao Kang” Xiangxi cured meat more famous.
The factory adopts a model of company plus base plus collective economic cooperative plus villager, transforms villagers into shareholders and distributes 30% of the collective income of the village to these farmers.
